       Center for Aerospace Systems Design and Engineering (CASDE) was established by AR&DB at IIT Bombay in 1998.  CASDE has already established itself as a front-runner in design & development of mission enabled MAVs.  CASDE now proposes to strengthen its R&D focus on Mini Aerial Vehicles with autonomous capability that can perform missions individually or in collaboration with other vehicles (in air or on ground).  This provides exciting opportunities to young engineers driven by passion to be engaged in cutting edge technology development initiative.       Mini/Micro Aerial Vehicles are complex systems consisting of a flying platform, host of on-board sensors and actuators, on-board computer and mission specific payload, all packed into small volume and weight (300 mm vehicle, carrying 12 sensors and a video camera weighing 5 gms and flying autonomously is the current capability) along with ground station(s) as necessary for communications and monitoring.

We are looking for people with a range of background and strengths to engage in

  • Collaborative mission
  • Real time image processing
  • Flight simulation
  • Navigation, guidance and control law development relevant to MAVs
  • On-board system development, on-board system programming, ground station development
  • Hardware-In-Loop-Simulation, Real-Time-Operating-Systems
  • Understanding of aerodynamics, propulsion system pertaining to MAVs
  • Vehicle design, development and testing
  • Manufacturing of MAVs

      High motivation and ready to learn qualities are must. Ability to work in a team is crucial.  Natural interest in things that influence the overall system beyond narrow disciplinary interest is important. Flying skills of small aircraft is desirable. Work will also involve preparation of the aerial vehicle for testing, maintenance and repair of mini-aerial vehicles.

The following positions are available.

Position 1: (Level ‘O2’)

Project leader: Candidate must have experience of executing complex project.  This is a techno-administrative leadership position and candidate is expected to manage the entire execution of the project under guidance of the investigating faculty members. The candidate will have the overall responsibility of the vehicle design, development and testing activities as well as for setting and maintaining timelines, day to day supervision of other project staff work, planning and executing procurement related tasks, co-ordinating meetings and internal and external liaison, etc. Project has substantial outdoor activity related to field testing. Candidate must have inclination to work part of the time under non-standard conditions (field work). Project leader will have project engineers and internal & external experts to interact with.

Salary: 30000 - 45000

Qualifications:

PhD/ME/MTech in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering with a minimum of 1 years relevant project experience in industry/academic institution/R&D Lab.  or  BE/BTech in these disciplines with minimum of 3 years relevant experience. Retired armed service personnel with relevant experience will be also considered for above position.

 

Position 2 (Level ‘L1’)

Research Assistant: Candidate must have worked in the area of embedded system, real time image processing. Proven skills in development of complex system are desirable. Project has substantial outdoor activity related to field testing. Candidate must have inclination to work part of the time under non-standard conditions (field work). Hardware development and implementation skills are highly desirable.

Salary: 16000- 22000

Qualifications:

ME/MTech/BE/B.Tech., in ME/EE/EC/Instrumentation and allied branches with some experience in the relevant area.

 

Position 3 (Level ‘L1’)

Research Assistant: Candidate must have worked in the area MAV design and analysis, understanding of aerodynamics and propulsion system for MAVs is must. Project has substantial outdoor activity related to field testing. Candidate must have inclination to work part of the time under non-standard conditions (field work). MAV fabrication and assembly skills are highly desirable.

Salary: 16000- 22000

Qualifications:

ME/MTech/BE/B.Tech., in ME/EE/EC/Instrumentation and allied branches with some experience in the relevant area.

 

Position 4 (Level ‘L2’)

Project Engineer: Candidate must have worked in the area of embedded system, c++ during the degree project. Desire to work on a multi-disciplinary activity involving hardware/software development and later field testing. Candidates can join for part time postgraduate degree.

Salary: 10000- 16000

Qualifications:

BE/B.Tech., in ME/EE/EC/Instrumentation and allied branches with experience

 

Position 5 (Level ‘L2’)

Project Engineer: Candidate have interest in the area MAV design and analysis, understanding of aerodynamics and propulsion system for MAVs is desirable. Project has substantial outdoor activity related to field testing. Candidates can join for part time post graduate degree.

Salary: 10000- 16000

Qualifications:

BE/B.Tech., in ME/EE/EC/Instrumentation and allied branches with experience.
